New mobile app MyFoodways helps consumers make delicious meals while reducing food waste
Low-waste, personalised recipes? There’s an app for that. With the help of newly launched app MyFoodways, users can receive weeknight-friendly recipe suggestions while simultaneously reducing food waste
Deciding what to cook after a tiring day can be a pain, especially when all you want is a quick, tasty meal on the table. The free MyFoodways app brings users personalised recipe suggestions with the combined aim of simplifying weeknight dinners and reducing the amount of food thrown out at home.
How does the app work?
New MyFoodways users are asked to enter their likes, dislikes and dietary preferences, so that the app can dish up balanced and sustainable recipe recommendations tailored to them. All MyFoodways recipes can be adapted depending on what you have in the fridge and how many people are at the table. The digital cookbook feature allows users to create meal plans for easy access to their favourite dishes and an opt-in feature brings those interested in eating with the seasons see recipes showcasing seasonal ingredients. With inbuilt tips on how to use up leftovers and straightforward storage advice, MyFoodways also helps users to reduce the amount of food they waste at home – and save money in the process.
Making Good Food the easy choice
Research shows that a growing number of consumers are interested in making healthy and environmentally sustainable choices, but lack the practical knowledge, skills or motivation to adapt their daily meal choices accordingly. MyFoodways takes the stress out of weeknight cooking and encourages users to think of new ways of using up unloved ingredients and to get creative with leftovers.
“Many consumers are surprised to hear that the majority of food waste occurs in private households. Luckily there is plenty that individuals can do to make a difference. We created MyFoodways to make it as easy as possible to transform those unloved fridge leftovers into a simple, tasty midweek meal that works for everyone at the table” - Laura Robinson, App Manager at Foodways Consulting AG
The MyFoodways app includes a host of practical, user-friendly features, including:
Personalised, weeknight-friendly recipe suggestions for simple, balanced meals, based on the ingredients users love
Adjustable serving sizes to suit adults and kids
Leftovers tips and storage advice
Dishes including seasonal ingredients
Reduce their food waste with leftovers tips and storage advice, so food stays fresher for longer
The MyFoodways app is free, compatible with both iOS and Android devices and is available in English, French and German.
